The Great Pacific Garbage Patch

There is a floating garbage patch growing to twice the size of the state of Texas. Do to ocean winds and currents this patch is not stationary. It generally floats in the ocean between Oregon and the Hawaiian Islands. In short this is a man made disaster! This massive patch is the world’s largest garbage dump. Unfortunately it’s mostly made of the worlds waste plastics. Because plastics are not biodegradable the ever growing mass is becoming a major environmental disaster. Fish mistake the plastic as food and when consumed stays with in their bodies until they die. Lager fish have had many plastic objects removed for their bodies when autopsied. Even worst is the fact that because plastics are not biodegradable it just gets more and more brittle in the sun and breaks apart. These pieces break into ever smaller particles. Fish often mistake these particles as food and this is now poisoning the sea life. Being that this landfill is the size of Texas and growing this is more than a minor problem. More and more fish are being found with large amounts of plastics with in their digestive tracts. Another problem is this ever growing mass blocks sun light reducing the area the plans and organism that rely on it can live. Ever growing numbers of marine life are living with the likes of key chains and water bottle stuck in their bodies. Adding the effects Global Warming we are doomed. (More Info)

I dunno man, that website you link to regarding the garbage patch is highly suspicious.

Just like on your post, none of the information is attributed to any authority.
